Shadow Lake will be Sheltering Tree's biggest community yet, with two, 24-unit apartment buildings. It will be situated within walking distance of grocery stores, employment, and entertainment. Most importantly, however, it will offer 44 adults with developmental disabilities the chance to live self-determined lives through access to safe and affordable housing, a far too rare opportunity.

We have over 130 eager individuals waiting to live in Tree apartments. They crave the social interaction and budget-friendly environment that Shadow Lake Sheltering Tree will undoubtedly provide. The residents will have friends to take sewing lessons with, to join a garden club with, to workout with, and to attend outings with. Additionally, their rent will only amount to a third of their income, allowing for the remainder to meet life’s other needs and joys.

Two wonderful foundations recently granted Sheltering Tree $400,000 in matching funds to put toward the build of our newest location, Shadow Lake Sheltering Tree. In order to unlock these gifts and begin construction, we are calling upon our community of supporters through a special capital appeal. Securing this $800k – half from you, half from our partners – would finalize the fundraising on the $10.4 million project.      We are that close!
